The poet Elizabeth Bishop (1911-1979) is the subject of this unusual documentary. Avant-garde filmmaker Barbara Hammer explores the places that Bishop inhabited in her lifetime, traversing the United States, Canada and Brazil to roam her beloved homes. The story also is about the poet’s abundant romantic life and role as a lesbian who kept her private life extremely private. The film features the music of Joan La Barbara and some of Bishop’s most intimate work.
